a solution means what the x and y equals to make the equation right. like in y=-5x+10 your solution will be 2 because of the 5x. and in a graph they just have points.

to me solution just means an answer to anything and in a graph the to lines will cross

The solution is only x=2 IF the y=0. Otherwise, it could be any other combination that make the equation true.
